Autumn Herbal Tea Blend
I’m a huge fan of tea. I probably brew at least 4 cups a day and my kitchen is full of glass jars of all sorts of delicious blends. I love blending tea myself to get the perfect amount of flavors and properties that I want. This Autumn Herbal Tea is one of my absolute favorites.
I first tried this blend at Whole Foods a few months back. They had a huge jar of it in the scoop your own bulk section and I couldn’t resist how pretty it was with the star anise and pink peppercorns. It wasn’t cheap though and came out to around $1.25 a cup so I decided to blend my own!Â
With a little help from Mountain Rose Herbs I was able to recreate the blend just about perfectly. Mine is a little heavier on the cinnamon because that’s how I like it but since you’re blending your own feel free to play with the ratios! That’s all part of the beauty of blending.
This is one tea that’s perfect for fall and even winter. I could see this being a wonderful blend to package in jars with a pretty tag to give as Christmas presents as well! I’m all for DIY homemade Christmas gifts. Those are the best.
Now for this herbal tea you’ll want to use about 2 teaspoons per cup of water. That will give you a strong but not overwhelming cup of tea.
If you’re brewing it to serve iced, which is fabulous, then you’ll want to brew it a bit stronger to account for the ice melting a bit and watering it down. I use about 3 teaspoons at that point.
Isn’t it gorgeous! I love the pops of color from the pink peppercorns and the fruity spice they lend to the tea. Plus the star anise just can’t be beat.
Feel free to make as much or as little as you want too. When I’m blending I’ll start by measuring by tablespoons to get the perfect blend while brewing and tasting as I go. Once I get it where I want I’ll look at the ratios and go bigger if I’m making a large amount. Just be sure to store it in an airtight glass container.
To brew you can use a mesh tea ball, or filters. This is one blend that will keep you warm and cozy all through fall and winter!
