Love potions are probably one of the most requested and searched for forms of magick. Many witches believe that love spells in particular are a bad idea, and that this is a form of manipulation and abuse of power. Whether or not you can actually snare someone romantically and bend them to your will may be up for debate, but better safe than sorry, right?
That’s why this “love potion tea”, just in time for Valentine’s Day, is not about making someone else fall in love with you. Rather, this tea is for opening your heart to love. This tea can help you reconnect and redevelop intimacy in an existing romantic relationship or help you be open to finding new love. I can’t take credit for this recipe as my roommate developed it but it is one of my favorites so I’m excited to share it!

It’s easy to see why this blend is connected to love and the heart.
Rose is the classic love-centric flower and it is represented by petals, buds and rosehips in this blend. Rose is ruled by the planet Venus and the signs of Taurus and Libra, those most deeply associated with love, sensuality and romance. Rose is most notable for helping us to open our hearts and be willing to love and be loved.
White peony tea is a relatively rare, expensive tea that is well worth indulging in now and then. It has a light, floral flavor that perfectly cradles the scent of rose.
Pink peppercorns are associated with romance, especially with fun, playful expressions of sexuality.
Cardamom is the most sensual of spices, with a hint of sweetness. It is associated with lust and intimacy and can help us reconnect when we have been out of touch with a loved one.
Marshmallow root is magickally associated with protection and psychic power, making it a perfect protection for the heart. After all, when we open ourselves up, sometime we need a soft place to land in case things don’t work out the way we thought they would; the important thing is our ability to remain open and loving in the face of past disconnection.
Drink this tea with a loved one or alone and incorporate it into a love-centered ritual involving rose quartz and rose opal, tantric sex or delicious chocolate. Happy Valentine’s Day!
